BACKGROUND:
- Westbrook is represented by 2 Maine House of Representative seats. At this time, we do not have candidates to run for those seats in November.
- The deadline for submitting a candidate’s name is Monday, July 28, at 4:00pm.
- The House Republican team plus some Westbrook volunteers are continuing to make phone calls through the weekend in hopes of identifying candidates for those seats.
- If a candidate steps forward, state law requires that we hold a Republican caucus to officially nominate him/her to appear on the ballot in November.
- The House Republican team asked us to schedule a caucus for Monday morning in case a candidate comes forward … and to allow as much time as possible for that to happen.
- Only 2 or 3 Westbrook Republican voters need to be present in order to meet the caucus requirement.
THEREFORE, this is an official notice that there will be a Westbrook Republican caucus on Monday, July 28, 11:00am, at Westbrook City Hall for the purpose of nominating candidates to run for the Maine House of Representatives.
